Okomfo Akosua Enyo Gyeaboa, LCSW, LMT, CCT, CMLT/CDT, CNHP, ND

I walked by a river
And you came to me
You opened my heart,
My mind, my soul, My spirit.
You set them free
I wondered alone
I wondered when
I wondered how
How my completion would be

I looked up, and there you were
Walking beside me
Your arms
How strong as they held me
Your eyes
How bright as they tuned my inner light
Oh Nana Asuo Gyebi,
how much I felt your love for me

My body was mangled and in pain
You, only looked at me and said,
"My wife, all that is, all that was
And all that will be…
Of pain of sickness of misery
My medicine, my strong medicine
Will I use, and give you breathe, life and wholeness again".

And so he did
And I walk by the river
And I call his name
Nana Asuo Gyebi, Nana Asuo Gyebi
Thank you for claiming me as your wife!

Okomfo Akosua came to this path by wondering and looking for answers. She began looking in the evangelical church, and by studying mediation with followers of Paramhansa Yoganada at Ananda Village in Northern California. She also looked in the Yoruba tradition, after her son challenged her about God and his African heritage. None of these paths seem to have the answers that she was seeking.

Okomfo Akosua first met her godmother Nana Akua Kyerewaa Opokuwaa, in 1996 at a conference in Barbados, "Counseling and Treating People of Color." Never did she realize that this chance meeting would change her life forever. Okomfo Akosua attended the same conference the following year with a mission to seek out Nana Kyerewaa. After finding her that year at the conference in Hawaii, Okomfo Akosua began to make the regular pilgrimage to Washington, DC to attend akoms and learn about the Abosom and Nsamanfo. It was on her trip to Ghana in 1998 that she was told she was to go into training so that the great healer Nana Asuo Gyebi could heal her body. She took the necessary steps and began training in June of 1999 and graduated as a Priest to Nana Asuo Gyebi in June of 2003.

Okomfo Akosua's hobbies are traveling and writing poetry. She has had the opportunity to travel to Belize and spend time with the Garunfia People. She has also visited Brazil, Ghana, Mexico, Jamaica, Barbados, and a number of other islands. One of Okomfo's favorite places is the Gullah Islands of South Carolina.

Okomfo Akosua is the founder of Nsoroma Wellness Center and Wise Women's Healing Adventures. She is a licensed clinical social worker, licensed massage therapist, certified colon hydro-therapist, lymphadema therapist, Certified Natural Health Practitioner, Reiki Practitioner, and a licensed Naturopath. Okomfo Akosua is also trained in the use of tuning forks and other forms of energy work. She has workshops, retreats and does motivational speaking. She has been a presenter at a number of International and Holistic Health Conferences. One of her most sought-fter workshops is: "Creating Sacred Places Inside and Out." In 2006, Okomfo Akosua was invited to present at the Bu-NEAS International Conference in Istanbul, Turkey where her topic was accepted, "Three African American Women Discuss Their Initiation Into Traditional African Religious Institutions."

"Asase trew na Onyame ne panyin."
"The earth is wide but it is God who is supreme."
