Okomfo Ama Anum Yeboa

Okomfo Ama Anum Yeboa born Keisha Alanda Trotter on October 4, 1975 in Washington, DC was an inquisitive and determined child. Her first sentence was "I can do that" and when she would get gifts of money, she would proudly say "this is for my education". The only child of Lee and Mocile Trotter, she was blessed to be born into a loving, supportive and close knit family. Her maternal grandmother, Nana Susan Smith, emphasized the importance of family and education. Okomfo Anum was destined to teach about the power and greatness of Almighty God. She was raised to respect Almighty God and can recall preaching to her friends during the summer months in Amelia, Virginia. Little did this young girl know that she was being prepared for something even greater!

Ama Anum graduated with a double degree in Health Science and Policy and Information Systems, respectively from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). It was during her last year at UMBC that she started to search for a spiritual system that spoke to her as an African living in America. Not sure where to go or what to do, she turned to the only true source - Almighty God. Anum prayed that God would lead her to where she was supposed to be. While working towards her Masters degree in Information and Telecommunications Systems at the Johns Hopkins University, Anum went to work at the U.S. Office on Women's Health, HHS. It was here that her path crossed with Okomfo Yaa Baakan Asantewaa. Anum was invited to an Akwasiadae Akom Celebration at the home of Nana Akua Kyerewaa Opokuwaa. Anum did not know what to expect. When she arrived at the Akom she was overwhelmed with emotion. God had answered her prayers. A few months after attending her first Akom, Anum started studying Akan spirituality under the guidance of Nana Kyerewaa and so began her spiritual journey with the Abosom and Nsamanfo. In 2002, Ama Yeboa made a spiritual commitment to enter into priest training and became the first Nana Esi Ketewaa Okomfowaa of Asomdwee Fie Shrine of the Abosom and Nsamanfo, International. (AFSANI). In the summer of 2005, Ama Anum Yeboa completed a spiritual milestone and become an Okomfo in the Akan Akom tradition.

As she follows her ancestral call and embarks about her spiritual path and life's work, Okomfo Anum continues to work with women and children in her community. In 2005, Okomfo Anum opened Serene Births, a privately owned and operated company offering childbirth education and labor doula services to women in the Washington Metropolitan area. In addition, Okomfo Ama Anum Yeboa is a sought after lecturer and instructor on such topics as Internet/Intranet technologies, network security and computer literacy. She is also the sole proprietor of Kee Concepts (http://www.kcwebdesignco.com) and home-based web business specializing in affordable web design and desktop publishing.
